Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are Integral to Our Success and We Can Only Deliver the Level of Work We Do Because of You

There are lots of ways that you can volunteer for The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre; whether you want to get outdoors and help with work to be done around The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre’s facilities, work with our Animal Care Team, help with fundraising events and activities, assist in our charity shops, knit catnip mice from home, or help out in an office environment.

Whatever you choose,  you’ll receive a warm welcome from our staff and other volunteers who will all be keen to make you feel part of our team and are grateful for your time and efforts in helping The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre. By giving us a helping hand through volunteering, you’ll assist us in continuing to rescue and rehome animals in need.

Volunteering Opportunities

The Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre - Fundraising – helping at local events Volunteer

Fundraising

As we rely on the generous donations of the public to allow us to continue rescuing and rehoming animals in need, fundraising events and other activities help towards covering the cost of our operations here at The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre which total around £700,000 a year! Your support through becoming a fundraising volunteer is vital to allowing us to continue what we do to help cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.

As a fundraising volunteer, your role may include attending and helping to organise events, operating street and store collections, collecting donations from shops and vets, hosting a fundraising event for us at your place of work or community group, or helping prepare for cake sales or goods sales. You’ll meet and work with other wonderful volunteers that share the same goal of raising crucial funds for our charity. We also welcome your ideas for our fundraising events or activities which you can develop and put into practice with support from our Fundraising & Media Manager.

Mouse Knitters

Whether you’re an amateur or expert crafter, we’re always in need of volunteers to create knitted catnip mouse toys for cats waiting for their forever homes with us and to help raise vital funds through their sale in our charity shops, at events, and at local veterinary offices.

Please let us know when you’re ready to start knitting your catnip mice from home using our knitting patterns below and bring them to The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre when they’re complete. If you don’t have the materials but still want to help out, please feel free to get in touch with us via email at fundraising@crrc.co.uk or give us a call and we should be able to supply most of the materials for you to collect from The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre.

Shop Volunteer

Looking to help support The Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre whilst finding satisfaction in organising goods and helping valued customers? We’re always in great need of volunteers to help out in our charity shops located in Chichester, Selsey and East Wittering! Our charity shops provide crucial funds needed to allow us to continue to rescue and rehome cats, rabbits and guinea pigs in need.

As a Shop Volunteer, you’ll enjoy providing good customer service, sorting and organising donated goods, keeping the shop tidy and ensuring customers end their shopping experience with a smile whilst completing transactions through the till. You’ll be appreciated in this role for your time and efforts by all of the team and customers. We’re grateful for any time you can give volunteering with us, whether it be a few hours or several days a week, which you can note to us whilst you apply for Shop Volunteering.

Donation Sorting

Everyday our kind supporters bring donations to The Centre for us to sell in our shops. We rely massively on the proceeds of the shops to keep the centre running and we need the goods to keep these going. Our sorting volunteers help us by sorting the goods ready to go to our charity shops. This role is hugely important in the smooth running of The Centre.

As a volunteer sorting goods at The Centre you will be responsible for organising the goods that are brought in by supporters. You will have a keen eye and be able to decide what items we can sell at the shops. You will also keep the donation area tidy and be welcoming to anyone dropping off donations. We would be very grateful for any time you may be able to give, this role can be carried out any day between 10am-4pm but we would like you to be able to commit to a certain day.
